Resurgam Genealogy is dedicated to protecting your privacy when visiting our site or engaging our services.

 

This Privacy Policy, together with our Terms of Service, explains how we will use any personal data that you provide to us or that we collect from you.

The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • The name, contact details (email, postal address and/or telephone number), and payment details of the Client, provided to us by the Client, for the purposes of billing and contact specifically related to the research commission.

  • The names and contact details (email, postal address and/or telephone number) of potential clients, provided to us by these potential clients, for the purposes of communication specifically related to potential research commissions.

  • The Client may also provide us with the names (including previous names), birth and marriage dates and places, addresses and occupations of living relatives as relevant to the research commission; this information may also be discovered by the Researcher in sources in the public domain through genealogical research processes. Note: Under the General Data Protections Regulations (GDPR) – (EU) 2016/679) the Researcher is not required to gain the consent of every living person (other than the client) found within the conducted research if it “proves impossible or would involve a disproportionate effort” for historical research purposes.

We use cookies on this website to provide you with a better user experience. We do this by placing a small text file on your device / computer hard drive to track how you use the website, to record or log whether you have seen particular messages that we display, to keep you logged into the website where applicable, to display relevant adverts or content, to refer you to a third party website.

How we get personal information and why we have it

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored.

  • E-mail communications with the Client will be retained for the period of one year from the completion of the research commission, in case further work is requested.

  • E-mail communications with potential clients will be retained for one year, in case research is subsequently commissioned.

  • Invoices, receipts and financial documentation containing the names and contact details of the Client will be retained for tax purposes relating to the business responsibilities of the Researcher for five or six years.

  • Information relating to living people forming part of the research commission will be stored in password-protected files held on cloud-based storage accessed by two-factor authentication. These files will be archived and not processed after the research commission has been paid for and delivered in full to the Client.

  • The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure and therefore we cannot guarantee the security of data sent by the Client to the Researcher electronically, which must be done at the Client’s own risk. Where passwords for password-protected files are shared with the Client, the Client is responsible for keeping these passwords secure.

Under data protection law, you have the rights including:

  • Your right to be informed

  • Your right of access

  • Your right to rectification

  • Your right to erasure

  • Your right to restriction of processing

  • Your right to object to processing

  • Your right to data portability

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If you have any concerns about our use of your personal information, you can make a complaint to us at jonathan@resurgamgen.com. You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. We handle subject access requests in accordance with the GDPR.
