Genealogical Research
Research on a branch of a family, finding and proving links between generations. This kind of research can expand and contract depending on your research questions and budget. Typical examples might include research into one family line over a number of generations, or research into a certain number of ancestors or descendants from an individual. Another great gift idea, which can be added to over time.
House/Building History
Perhaps you're interested in the history of your current or childhood home. Maybe there's a particular building of local significance that would interest your community. House and building histories can discover when the building was erected, what was there before, how it changed over time, and the stories of the people who lived and worked there.

Perhaps you've inherited old documents or letters connected to your family history, or maybe you've found them online. How frustrating not to be able to read the old-fashioned handwriting! Genealogists are experienced in reading old-fashioned handwriting on historic documents. A legible transcription can be made, unlocking the contents of the documents to progress your research journey.
Research Checking
Many people love doing family history research themselves, making use of the wealth of information available online. You might even be lucky enough to inherit family history notes from a relative. How sure can you be that the information you're compiling is factually correct? The research checking service is ideal when you've amassed a body of information and you want peace of mind that the connections you've made are sound.

Every research project is different. In a free initial consultation, we will discuss your enquiry and the ways in which I may be able to help you. The outcome of the consultation will inform the Research Services Agreement, which you will approve before I begin researching.

Staying Informed
Research can be unpredictable and there can be unavoidable delays while we wait for documents to arrive. I will keep you informed as the research progresses, even if everything is going to plan.

Fees and Expenses
My time is charged at a rate of £30 per hour, which applies to desktop research and reporting. Additional expenses may include paying for records from repositories other than those to which I already subscribe, photography/copying fees in archives, and travel to archives (charged at £0.45 per mile). 50% part-payment will be due before the research begins and full payment will be due before the report is delivered to you.
